The Costa del Sol is one of the major tourist destinations in Europe, concentrating more than 3 mio people during the high summer season in July and August. For decades now is Torremolinos the place where thousands of people choose to spend their vacations. Some various places along the Costa del Sol, are very attractive to spend the most precious time of the year. Going from the West to the East, first we´d like to point out Manilva, nice town which grew considerable during the past years, thanks to the expansion of nearby Estepona. Both towns have good adresses for restaurants, beaches of golden, fine sands, apartments and hotels and not to forget golf courses.
Leaving Estepona we reach Marbella with its urbanisations Guadalmina, Puente Romano, Aloha or Nueva Andalucía. With Marinas like Puerto Banus and with an offer of Leisure and accommodation, it is referred to as a big tourist town.
Leaving Marbella eastbound, we pass Fuengirola, Mijas and Benalmádena, three towns with a big number of apartments, hotels and tourist facilities. Here we emphasise Puerto Marina in Benalmádena, the donkey taxis in Mujas-Pueblo and the marvellous Mediterranean coastline.
Passing by Torremolinos, we are heading for Malaga the capital of Costa del Sol and home of Picasso and Antonio Banderas. Malaga is a synonym for beach, culture, for public transport (airport and train station RENFE). Malaga is the perfect town to spend a couple of days there.
We like to mention on the eastern side of the Costa del Sol the town of Nerja with its bays (no beaches) for lovers of nature and which offers also some of the most important caves in Europe. |
